Participants must be 12 years to 18 years old when the program starts.
Learn the art of fabric dyeing in this 3 day teen camp. Campers will learn dyeing techniques including indigo/shibori, ice dyeing, and batik. Then, we will use our custom fabrics to hand or machine sew one or more projects of the student’s choice. Examples include throw pillows, tote bags, pouches, hair accessories, pajama pants, or a simple pullover top. Novice sewers will learn basic hand or machine sewing skills and be guided towards simpler projects. Those with sewing experience may choose something slightly more advanced, however this is not the place for advanced clothing construction due to limited time and the focus being on the dyeing techniques. Each student will also receive a plain white tee shirt to dye using the method of their choice, and may bring 2 additional items from home to dye (white cotton fabrics recommended).
